Analysing Indian Test Squad for England Tour

Today, BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) announced the Indian Test Squad for the upcoming first Three Test matches of the series against England. The squad features 18 Players with Bhuvneshwar Kumar being ruled out due to back injury and his inclusion is subject to fitness, also Bumrah who is nursing a broken thumb will be available after second Test which is a big setback to the side. Meanwhile the young left handed Keeper Batsman Rishabh Pant has got his Maiden Test Call-Up after a good show for IndiaA in 4-day matches against England Lions. He is the 2nd Choice wicket-keeper after Dinesh Karthik in the side.

The team consists of as many as 10 frontline batsmans and Navdeep Saini is the only exclusion from the squad which featured in Historic Test against Afghansitan. Also, Virat Kohli will Captain the team along with Rahane as his deputy. The Pace Bowling will be lead by Ishant Sharma with Umesh, Shami & Shardul. The spin department consist of Ashwin, Jadeja & Kuldeep has been added to the squad which is somewhat considered as a bad move by many Cricket Experts as this opportunity might expose Kuldeep’s action and the kind of deliveries he bowls to the opponent. Overall the team looks balanced but the Pace Bowling option needs to click as a unit.

Squad for first 3 matches:

Virat Kohli(C), Rahane(Vc), KL.Rahul, Murali Vijay, Pujara, Bumrah(after 2nd Test), Ishant, Umesh, Shami, Shardul, R.Pant, Dinesh Karthik, K.Nair, R.Ashwin, R.Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Hardik Pandya, S.Dhawan
