Nz vs Ind, 2nd ODI: Preview

Match Previews

Not a result which we expected but its a part and parcel of the game, you deal with this everyday. Losing another ODI to New Zealand after the WC 2019 Semi-Final along with Rohit & Ms.Dhoni both not around is a big blow for Virat & to his leadership right now. Also, the injuries are hurting India in a long run now. But India need not take any tensions they are the Hosts of the next 50 Overs World Cup to be held in 2023, so they qualify automatically & almost settled for the tournament with a solid performance from Shreyas Iyer with Maiden Ton of his career, while KL.Rahul in the middle-order is paying off the team well. Fielding is a concern & so as bowling with a heap of injured players. But as of now it’s not a situation where you press the panic button yet.

Now coming onto the 2nd ODI, the ground is a bit same to others in New Zealand with a drop-in pitch & hell lot of smaller boundaries. Moreover it will be a bigger challenge as Kohli & Co. are already 1-0 down and series is at stake right now, another loss will mean series loss. Teams look good, Visitors hold a upper hand on the Home Team after thumping them in T20I’s but Rohit Sharma’s calf injury is a concern & so as their bowling & fielding in the 1st game. So, expect it to be a thriller again.

Pitch- The match will be played at Eden Park, Auckland. The pitch here is usually flat like a road & doesn’t offer any assistance to the bowlers at all. Short boundaries will matter alot here.

New Zealand – What a tremendous win from the home team, plus likes of Taylor & Latham played crucial roles and that googly by Ish Sodhi took Virat Off–Guard in a second. Overall the bowling was bit dull but a win is a win. Expect no big changes with Ish Sodhi to sit out due to short boundaries.

Playing XI- Martin Guptill, Tom Latham(C/Wk), Tom Blundell, Colin de Grandhomme, Ross Taylor, H.Nicholls, J.Nessham, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Scott Kuggeleijn, Hamish Bennett

India – India despite a tragic loss will not enforce big changes but Shardul going to bench is definite & Navdeep Saini coming-in, while Chahal in-place of Kuldeep is also certain.

Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the ODI’s & Test Matches due to calf injury which he picked up during final T20I & Mayank Agarwal will replace him in ODI’s, while Prithvi Shaw will replace him in Test Matches. Also, Rohit is suppose to be ruled out of Home Series ODI’s against South Africa to be played in March.

Playing XI- Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw, Virat Kohli(C), Shreyas Iyer, KL.Rahul(Wk), Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, Navdeep Saini, Jasprit Bumrah
