BCCI ends all the drama and the controversial duo of Hardik Pandya & KL Rahul are banned from playing any form of cricket till the formal enquiry by BCCI gets over. Both the players have been ordered to come back home from Australia. Mayank Agarwal who made his debut in recently concluded Test Series has been rewarded a place in the ODI side but later it was confirmed that he is carrying a niggle and has been replaced by young prodigy Shubman Gill who will go along with Vijay Shankar, which we predicted in our previous post.

Shubman Gill has been awarded a place in this side on back of a superb performance in Ranji Trophy and on IndiaA tours, he currently has over 1500 runs in ListA at an average of 47.78 in 36 matches. Gill is a right hand batsman who plays domestic cricket for Punjab and has been part of the Under 19 World Cup winning team lead by Prithvi Shaw. He can both open the innings and bat in the middle order.

Whereas Vijay Shankar makes his case strong with his ability to bat better than Hardik Pandya with a good medium pace bowling and a good amount of experience in domestic cricket is a plus point. He has scored over 1400 runs in 58 ListA matches with a total of 43 wickets to his name at a economy of 4.98.
Rishab Pant is having some niggles (injuries) and has been rested- as per the Chief selector Mr. MSK Prasad. So, this the main reason behind Rishab’s exclusion from the squad. Vijay Shankar will only join the squad for the Australia series & New Zealand series while Shubman Gill will join the team for New Zealand series.
