News

After 13 Months & 9 Days the Indian Cricket Team will start their campaign against the South Africa in the upcoming World T20 which will be held in Australia from 18 October to 15 November. The Indian Team is placed in group B along with two qualifiers which are yet to be decided & England, South Africa and Afghanistan. While the team will play their matches in Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney with Final also scheduled to take place at Melbourne & semi-finals a Adelaide & Sydney. Also, India has good record at all these venues.

The team will play around 27 to 30 T20I’s before the Mega Tournament including Asia Cup & a series in Australia. The preparation for the tournament has already started with the South Africa T20I’s which will be followed by two 3 match series against Bangladesh & West Indies respectively. Also, a 3 match T20I series with Zimbabwe is also scheduled in January. A 5 match away T20I series in New Zealand, 3 match T20I series in Srilanka & a home series against England in September next year are also scheduled.

While talking about the squad, a set of 10-11 players has already been identified with a fight for almost 4 places is left. The management is keen on testing some youngsters with likes of Chahal & Kuldeep no longer first choice spinners due to weak batting ability & either of one will be selected in the squad for the tournament. While Ms.Dhoni is still an integral part of the team with Virat Kohli himself clarifying that he need Dhoni for a brief period of time till they find a new keeper. Also, a decision on Rishab Pant will be made soon whether he is the wicket-keeper the team is looking as he has been dull throughout this year. As per sources the final 15 will be chosen from a pool of maximum 25 players. The expected set/pool of players are:
